Changing your behaviour isn't always easy. You have probably tried to change certain parts of your life for many years. You might have tried everything, but nothing seems to work. But imagine changing your life with just the power of your mind.
I've researched the subconscious mind extensively, exploring its power and various connection methods. I have tried various subconscious reprogramming techniques that I am about to share with you.
These techniques have helped me completely change my life. Following these tips has helped me reduce anxiety, increase my confidence, and gain a greater sense of inner peace.
Let’s explore this wonderful element of the human psyche together and gain a better understanding of how to use it.
What Is the Subconscious Mind?

The subconscious mind is like a computer. It stores information, such as memories, emotions, motivations, and belief systems. But unlike a laptop or desktop computer, it controls your body’s autonomic nervous system. This system controls your heart rate, blood pressure, and sexual organs.
A study done on the subconscious by American neuroscientist Benjamin Libet in the 1970s might even prove that the subconscious may be in control of your body’s muscular movements as well. To Learn more about Libet’s research, read the article "What’s Really in Control of Your Body?"
The Power of the Subconscious

Your subconscious can give you the power to change your future. It can do this by helping you change your belief systems.
How does it work?
It works like this… any idea you repeatedly think or believe about yourself and the world around you gets planted into your psyche. For example, if you tell yourself that you fail at everything you do. When you start a new job, you’ll probably fear failure, which will raise your anxiety and stress levels.
This elevation in stress and anxiety will make you less productive at work and unable to focus on achieving your goals. Such pressure could trigger repeated panic attacks, impacting your work and potentially leading to a job loss. But if you cultivated positive beliefs, your life would change. You’d become more mindful of your thoughts and actions and break the cycle of disappointment.
The subconscious has other powers than just changing limiting beliefs.
You’ll understand more about that if you…

Letting Go of Anxiety

Anxiety is frustrating to live with. It can destroy your personal and professional life. However, you can reprogram your subconscious to better deal with it.
If you teach your mind to detach from anxious thoughts, your brain will then lower your heart rate and slow down your breathing, thus making you feel relaxed. You would have a lot more resilience instead of anxiety.
You can train your mind to let go of anxiety by repeating daily affirmations like this one:
Today, I will let go of anxiety by focusing on my breathing.
Heal the Body

Your mind can heal your body. Changing your beliefs may allow you to heal some of your health issues.
Do you know about the placebo effect?
If you don’t, let me explain.
Imagine you’ve been living with unbearable pain in your right leg for two weeks. You’ve taken Advil or Tylenol, and neither of these painkillers seems to work. You visit your doctor and discuss the problem. He prescribes daily medication for you to take. He mentions that the drugs are stronger than anything available at your local drugstore.
After taking the pills for a couple of days, the pain seems to go away. You call your doctor to tell him the wonderful news, but he says he never gave you any pain-killing medication. The drugs he gave you were just sugar pills (essentially candy). This is one example of the subconscious mind at work.
Because you strongly believed that the medication would work, your subconscious took that belief as a reality and helped you heal your pain.
According to Dr. Danna Pycher, through the use of hypnosis, she entered her unconscious mind to heal her muscle pain. If you’re curious about how she did it, watch the YouTube video below.
How To Access the Subconscious

You can access your subconscious in multiple ways. It is possible to gain entrance through mindfulness meditation, hypnosis, and affirmations. These activities break down the barriers between your conscious and subconscious mind.
Let’s dive into a bit more detail about these exercises.
Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness meditation can help you tap into your subconscious. This ancient practice can give you a sense of emotional stability. It does this by helping you remain detached from your negative thoughts and feelings.
Practicing mindfulness increases brain waves associated with deep relaxation and creativity. This mental exercise also lowers brain waves related to active thinking.
During mindfulness meditation, thoughts and stored memories from your subconscious will arise. You’ll be able to observe these thoughts without getting too emotionally invested in them.
By simply noticing your thoughts, you’ll gain the understanding that thoughts only have as much power as you give them. This profound knowledge will be a catalyst for change.
Hypnosis
Being in a trance state is an effective way to uncover hidden layers of your mind. Under the guidance of a licensed therapist, hypnosis can induce a peaceful and dreamlike state. While in this position, you and your therapist can explore your subconscious and discover forgotten memories and harmful beliefs.
Contrary to popular movies, your therapist can’t take control of you. They can’t compel you to do something you’re uninterested in doing. You’ll be in full control.
Affirmations
Affirmations can help you instill beliefs and take action. If you repeat them daily, they’ll assist you in programming new beliefs into your subconscious. These beliefs can support you in staying motivated to create healthy habits.
Example of an affirmation:
I am smart, and learning new things comes easily to me.
Some people will tell you all you have to do to achieve your goals is to recite positive affirmations, but that’s simply misguided. You must also take action. The more action you take to achieve your goals, the more you’ll embed positive thoughts deep within your psyche.
Frequently Asked Questions

Could I use psychedelics to access my subconscious?
Psychedelics can help you tap into your subconscious. Substances such as magic mushrooms, LSD, and dimethyltryptamine (DMT) have been used to gain entrance into the subconscious.
Even though drugs can help you access the deeper recesses of your mind. Many of these drugs are illegal, and there’s no telling what type of experience you may have when you first use them. Some people have had very positive and life-changing experiences, while others report feeling anxious, dizzy, unstable, or depressed.
If you would like to learn more about psychedelics, read the article “This Is Your Brain on Mushrooms” by Debra Melani, a science writer for the University of Colorado.
Where can the subconscious be found inside the brain?
This is a hard question to answer. Although various claims exist about where the subconscious is located in the brain, current scientific research isn’t able to answer this question.
